know the daily possible solar radiation maximum

For a given location (Lat/Long) I would like to see what the daily maximum solar radition could be. I collect 10 minute interval solar radiation data in Wm2 at my weather site in Bristol, UK but I have know way of knowing whether my 6000 Wm2 for a particular day is sunny or not. I have now absolute to match it against.
