A little online application with interactive map that shows sun movement and sunlight phases (with dawn, sunrise, sunset and dusk times) during the given day at the given location.
when you slide the bar for changing the time it would help to have a numerical time box showing exactly the time. i.e.: i want to know what time exactly the sun will peek around the side of my house. or how long will i get sun on the deck etc....
Rather than "print screen", I would like to download a more professional looking PDF version please. It is a good addition to the advert for a house sale. Thank you.
As a photographer, it would help to see where trees, buildings, and other objects are in relation to the sun. Satellite imagery instead of a virtual map would help tremendously!
If you could draw rectangles and position them in 3-space, you could design sun shades and solar arrays rapidly without having to model the subject property.
Forget about magnetic declination to complex and unnecessary for solar designs, you need to know true north. On the outer black circle 0 & 360 degrees for true north, 90d for east 180d true south & 270d for west easy to do and will go with any...
Sorry if this unnecessarily clutters the ideas feed, but I would just like to thank the maker(s) of this site!
It is very useful and since beginning to use this site, I have caught many more sunsets and sunrises than I used to! It really brings...
Hi! I can't find any information about the date validation. Which is possible lowerst date for calculation with good precision. Can I simulate dates BC? Thanks in advance!
when zoomed in the map to the site, 3d becomes active.
Then 90 degree button is perfect but every time i change angle using it sun graphic doesnt update itself.
it automatically turn with the map causing different sunrise sunset lines...
I am using your excellent site to plan tree planting and look at shading... I want to show the times people are generally awake, so, not sunrise in the summer... if you could help me calculate shadows for different heights of trees, great! ;)
Your Weather forecast link hides google's zoom out icon, and your About SunCalc link partially covers google's Satellite view option on my system (Mac running Safari and Chrome).
The weather forecast link gets in the way of zoom - great idea to have it for the current co-ordinates but would be good to move it into it's own area or have it as an option somewhere else.
Great website by the way!
The purpose is to calculate best orientation for solar hot water and PV systems. The requested direction and elevation above the horizon is the max yield. This is the minimum request (4000+ likes).
In practice, topology, nearby trees and man...
...horizon coordinates for the points of solar/Earth horizon intersection, showing something like 90 degrees sunrise and 270 degrees sunset about the times of the equinoxes ... counting from zero degrees at due north ... I have seen similar...
When I moved the cursor from Michigan to Norway to see the SunCalc times in my cousin's town, it was showing sunrise/sunset times in the eastern time zone, not local Norway time. I figured it out doing the math, for example SunCalc was showing for...
